NEW PATIENTS

First Visit

To us, one of the most important parts of the initial visit is getting to know each other. After receiving a tour of our office and meeting Dr. Vitkus and the team, we want you to tell us about you! What brings you into the office and what concerns do you have? Once we have an understanding of this, we will take pictures of your teeth and x-rays as needed. At Vitkus Orthodontics we know no two mouths are exactly alike, and therefore no two treatments are exactly alike either – Dr. V will review your photographs and x-rays with you to create your customized treatment plan. If treatment is recommended, we will review with you what this entails. Many times, particularly for youngsters in the 7 to 12 year old range, we recognize that while treatment may be or will definitely be needed in the future, we are not quite ready to begin at this time. This could be due to a variety of reasons, including the need for more permanent teeth to erupt, the need for us to monitor growth, the need for oral hygiene to improve or the need for us to coordinate with your general dental provider. In these cases, we enter you into our complimentary Growth Guidance Program (please see below for more information).

Growth Guidance Program

At Vitkus Orthodontics we strive to make treatment as efficient and effective as possible. We know your time is valuable, and your financial investment important too. While sometimes, early treatment is needed in our young patients, many times we recognize that we are not quite ready to begin at this time. Our Growth Guidance program is designed for patients in the 7 to 12 year old range who may need or likely will need treatment in the future. We monitor the need for treatment at 6 to 12 month intervals – these visits are very similar to your initial consultation, we update photographs and x-rays as needed, and discuss changes that have occurred over the past months. Our goal with these appointments is to monitor your child so that we can initiate treatment when it will be the most effective. This whole program and all appointments are complimentary to you. If after years of monitoring we decide treatment is not needed, you graduate from us free of charge and we rest easy knowing your child has a healthy mouth; we are simply happy to have made another friend in you.

Scheduled Appointments

After your initial consultation and once Dr. Vitkus determines the best treatment for you, we can schedule your first official appointment to get your appliances on! Follow-up visits will occur every 8 to 10 weeks throughout the course of treatment, unless otherwise shared with you. Throughout the course of treatment there will be several appointments that are more involved and therefore require more time, and your first official visit when we begin treatment is one of them. Other examples include appointments where we may add or reposition brackets and of course, the final appointment when you get your appliances removed. Dr. V and the team will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible, when scheduling please let us know what days and times work best for you. With that said, we ask you respect our time like we will certainly respect yours. If you are running late or need to reschedule, please let us know with as much advanced warning as possible.

Patient Forms

Prior to your first appointment we will need you to fill out some forms with basic information. We are happy to email or mail these forms to you prior to your appointment so you can fill them out at a time convenient for you. This can help make your initial visit as efficient as possible.

Financing Info

Orthodontic treatment is such a valuable investment in your life or the life of your child, and we don’t want it to be complicated or confusing. Many dental insurance plans can help cover the cost of orthodontic treatment, however, insurance coverage varies depending on your plan. We are happy to verify your insurance coverage for you. Please plan to provide us with your insurance information prior to your first appointment so can do the work for you and show you at your first appointment what your insurance coverage should be. Once treatment is initiated, we will also file your insurance claim for you as a courtesy.

While the exact cost of orthodontic treatment varies depending on a patient’s individual treatment plan, as we develop your treatment plan and determine what your financial investment will be, we will also work with you to determine the best way for you and your family to finance treatment. We have flexible payment plans available, or we offer a discount for patient’s who pay in full – we will assist you in finding a plan that best fits your budget.

Our practice accepts most insurance plans, please call with particular questions.
